Queen of Chaos by Kat Ross | Cover Reveal and Fangirl Session

Over the past year, Kat Ross has become one of my favorite authors. I have devoured three of her books this year, including The Midnight Sea, Blood of the Prophet, and The Daemoniac. All three of them were 5 stars for me, which is incredibly rare for any author, especially one who is so underrated. Ross is my go-to recommendation for those looking for unique fantasy (and historical fiction) books. The Fourth Element series should be on every YA fantasy fan's TBR.

Today, I have the pleasure of fangirling about The Fourth Element Series as well as revealing the breathtaking cover of Queen of Chaos, the last book in the series.

Queen of Chaos

By Kat Ross
The Fourth Element #3
Will be published on January 18, 2017
Young Adult, Fantasy

Persepolae has fallen. Karnopolis has burned. As the dark forces of the Undead sweep across what remains of the empire, Nazafareen must obey the summons of a demon queen to save Darius’s father, Victor. Burdened with a power she doesn’t understand and can barely control, Nazafareen embarks on a perilous journey through the shadowlands to the House-Behind-the-Veil. But what awaits her there is worse than she ever imagined…A thousand leagues away, Tijah leads a group of children on a desperate mission to rescue the prisoners at Gorgon-e Gaz, the stronghold where the oldest daēvas are kept. To get there, they must cross the Great Salt Plain, a parched ruin occupied by the armies of the night. A chance encounter adds a ghost from the past to their number. But will they arrive in time to avert a massacre? And in the House-Behind-the-Veil, Balthazar and the Prophet Zarathustra discover that they have more in common than meets the eye. But is it enough to redeem the necromancer’s bloodstained soul and thwart his mistress’s plans? As a final showdown looms with Queen Neblis, the truth of the daēvas’ origins is revealed and three worlds collide in this thrilling conclusion to the Fourth Element series.

Fangirling

If you will excuse me, I am going to fangirl a little bit over here and explain why I am so gosh-darn excited about Queen of Chaos.

1. LOOK AT THAT COVER! I mean, it is so simplistic at first glance, but the more I look at it the more depth I see. The dark blue perfectly complements the gold of the crown.

2. WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO MY PRECIOUS CHARACTERS. I have been on many journeys with this couple and I am not throwing in the towel now.  Karnopolis may be burned to a crisp and Persepolae is not much better off, but I have complete faith that Darius and Nazafareen will do whatever it takes to repair their broken world. To be honest, Victor also grew on me a little bit and I am worried about his fate as well. This just shows that Ross is a master at creating characters since I HATED Victor at first. But now we are buddy-buddy and I am rooting for him.

3. A NEW SETTING Ross is a master of settings. Whether it is historical New York City or ancient Persia, she can create lustrous worlds with more depth that I ever could have imagined. I loved roaming the lively streets of Karnopolis and Persepolae in the previous books and I know it will only get better (if a bit darker) from here.

4. ANSWERS TO ALL OF THE QUESTIONS I have been accumulating a list of questions that I need to have answered. My most pressing one of the moment is how is Nazafareen going to use her powers? Where did they even come from? Is anyone going to get a happy ending? What are all the daevas going to do now? Ross left me wondering about her world for a long time about I closed the book and I am ready to get some answers.

If this amazing cover has not moved your heart and soul like it moved mine, then you should check out my reviews of all of Kat Ross's other novels.
 Author Bio

Kat Ross worked as a journalist at the United Nations for ten years before happily falling back into what she likes best: making stuff up. She lives in Westchester with her kid and a few sleepy cats. Kat is also the author of the dystopian thriller Some Fine Day (Skyscape, 2014), about a world where the sea levels have risen sixty meters. She loves magic, monsters and doomsday scenarios. Preferably with mutants.
