Top Ten Tuesday | Reasons We are Excited to Host our First Readathon!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by wonderful bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish.

I was very sneaky this week and am using the freebie day to announce some very interesting news....

We are hosting a summer readathon!

We would like to share ten reasons why we are excited and you should be too.

1. Tessa designed a super cute banner.

2. Summertime!

The readathon will take place from June 21 to June 27, which is summer prime-time! No school, sunny days, and nice weather all help us celebrate our first major event.

The introduction post will be live on our blog at 12 a.m. ET on June 21. There will be a Linky for you to share your introduction posts and find others.

3. Twitter Chats

Ever since I signed up for Twitter a couple of months ago, I have been completely obsessed! And I know that a lot of you are too. So, to satisfy our cravings, there are three Twitter chats scheduled during the readathon. At 8 PM EST on June 21, 12 PM on June 24, and 8 PM on June 27* We will be using #cfsreadathon for the chat, but feel free to use it anytime to track your progress or to show everyone else how you are going!

*These times are subject to change. There will be an email sent to participants with the final times closer to the event.

4. Giveaway

At the end of this event, we'll be hosting our first giveaway! It will most likely be some kind of giftcard.

5. Achievement Levels

Instead of standard daily challenges that are often used in readathons, we came up with an achievement system so you can choose your own goals.

In the beginning of the Readathon (or really whenever you want) you can pick one or more of the achievements we designed. There will be levels in those achievements, so the more you succeed the better!

Here is a sneak peek of some of the graphics.

6. Reading

Nothing is better than reading, except for a whole week devoted to it! You will finally have the chance to catch up on all of your latest reads and find new favorites.

7. Fun Challenges

What would a readthon be without challenges? Boring.

So, to avoid that unfortunate fate, Max and I have come up with a couple of interesting, thought-provoking, and generally hilarious challenges that we are excited to show off.

8. Matching button.

To go along with the cute banner, I also made a matching button! You can grab the code below it to put it on your own blog.

9. Discovering new blogging friends.

When it comes down to it, this is what readathons are for. Throughout the week, we hope that you can read to your heart's desire, but we also want you to be able to find new friends. To make this easier, we will provide Linkys for all of the challenge posts, so everyone can find your posts. We will also include a list of participants in an email before the event starts.

10. The best news of all... You can sign up now!

If you want to sign up for the readathon, put your blog URL in the Linky below, along with your name and email address.

About two weeks before the readathon starts, an email will be sent to all participants with a schedule of the challenges in case you want to schedule some ahead of time.

If you want to show your support, use #cfsreadathon and grab the button!
